"Wirtz is a Red": Liverpool makes record transfer official

He's THE transfer of the summer so far: Florian Wirtz. It's been rumored for weeks, and now Liverpool FC has confirmed the move. The Wirtz package is said to have an estimated total value of up to 150 million euros.
The record-breaking transfer of German international Florian Wirtz to Liverpool FC is official. The English club shared a photo of Wirtz in a Liverpool jersey on Friday evening, captioning it: "Florian Wirtz is a Red."
Pay-TV broadcaster Sky and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano had previously reported that the 22-year-old had successfully completed his medical with the English champions. Wirtz signed a contract until 2030.
The day before, several media outlets had reported that Wirtz, who is currently under contract with runner-up Bayer Leverkusen, had flown to England on Thursday for a mandatory medical. Bild also published photos of his arrival at Cologne Airport, where he reportedly took off on a private plane.
Liverpool and Leverkusen have long since agreed on a transfer package that, according to media reports, could total up to €150 million, including a fixed fee and bonuses. Wirtz would thus be the most expensive transfer in Bundesliga and Premier League history. Only for strikers Neymar and Kylian Mbappé has Paris Saint-Germain paid two higher transfer fees.
